Boomerang
About the Company
Boomerang is on a mission to solve global lost property. The BoomerangTag is a physical QR code that comes as either a fire extinguisher strength sticker for any material, or an iron on label specifically for clothes. Once scanned and registered, the BoomerangTag allows finders to easily return lost items to owners through digital notes.

How do you hope to use the grant?
“Starting a business is hard! And we can’t always choose the most efficient route with the lowest carbon footprint to begin with. Knowing we are reducing our impact with Supercritical already at this stage is a huge piece of mind. The flexible £2.5k will ultimately go towards building carbon saving feedback tools in the platform, so brands and consumers are able to get instant feedback of the benefit of having a BoomerangTag on their belongings. For example: did you know that your favourite t-shirt has a 5 times lower carbon footprint than your average? Or that you really need to use a metal water bottle 500 times before you get the carbon footprint benefit? Such indicators can really swing how we look at lost property piles.”
Why does sustainability matter to you?
“We as humans rely on the earth as our home, and logically preserving the wellbeing of our home and the beauty of the natural world within it is so important. Boomerang began after I realised that actually I needed to be using my metal water bottles 500+ times before I was getting the carbon footprint benefit, which I was not doing as I was losing them every few months. Stopping lost items go to waste, and thereby reducing the demand for new is the core of Boomerangs mission. Naturally, making sure the company itself has an impact as low as possible must be part of that mission!”
